Illuminating the path to health!
About Research Circle Trust
The Research Circle Trust (RCT) is a not-for-profit organisation with a mandate to promote national and International collaborative work on Health Research, education and training. The RCT through its partnerships and collaborations funding supports students with different backgrounds to pursue studies locally, regionally, or internationally. The beneficiaries of this funding will return to their countries of origin and fill in the research gap in their home countries. The Research Circle Trust fosters an environment suitable for introducing mentoring practice to young and early-career scientists in universities, private and public institutions.
How the Research Circle Trust was formed
The Research Circle Trust (RCT) was founded in 2021 in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was established to retain researchers in Zimbabwe after completing their studies locally and abroad, building capacity to prepare communities and the country for handling pandemics.
RCT also plays a key role in developing surveillance systems for the early detection and control of emerging and re-emerging diseases of public health importance, including non-communicable diseases such as cancer, HIV, and HBV. Many institutions in Zimbabwe face challenges in mentoring due to brain drain, lack of resources, and limited collaborative capacities. RCT aims to bridge this gap by complementing government efforts and fostering stronger connections between industry and academic research.
By strengthening research capacities and implementing targeted programs, RCT is committed to driving meaningful advancements in Zimbabwe’s health sector.
